After being teammates at UIC, the duo of Max Todd and Oscar Gonzalez are back together this time at Detroit City FC, a member of the National Premier Soccer League.

Both have made an early impact for a Detroit City FC group that is 2-1-1 in its first four games.

This past weekend represented an especially positive moment as Todd donned the captain’s armband, while Gonzalez earned Man of the Match while notching an assist on Le Rouge’s second goal as they cruised to a 5-0 win over FC Indiana.

Gonzalez played a role in the first goal, as well. After his cross into the box was deflected away for a corner Deakin found Moussa Gueye to open the scoring just seven minutes in.

Todd played his part too in the win swinging a cross in to Daniel Wright, who notched his first goal with the club, to help extend the lead to 5-0 in the final minutes. That goal came just minutes after Todd was able to find a lane on a counter setting up Shawn Lawson, who had his shot blocked.

The former Flames duo combined for 17 goals and 11 assists last season helping the Flames reach the NCAA Tournament before falling to No. 22 Michigan State in the opening round.
